Slacking!

Shame on me for not updating since Monday! Sorry!

Brooke is doing much better with feedings since she got the lasix (diuretic) and got rid of the extra fluid. Most of her feedings she's been taking on room air and she usually takes 40cc's (30cc's is her minimum). As of this morning they are now going to let her eat on demand, going no longer than 4 hours between feedings. Her current weight is 4lb. 4.8oz. (she lost 4 grams last night...no big deal). And we finally remembered to ask her length last night and she is 17.5 inches now!! No wonder her preemie stuff is starting to just fit/get small!

I talked to her nurse last night about the whole diuretic and extra fluid thing. She said it's possible that Brooke will go home on a diuretic and the extra fluid comes from having immature lungs. Even though she wasn't that compromised respiratory wise, she can still have problems. It's something she would outgrow. She assured me that this is not unusual and nothing to worry about. So they're going to keep an eye on her to see if she ends up having more fluid build up and needs a diuretic again...if that's the case, she'll go home on one for awhile. I think Ryan probably should have gone home on a diuretic because he ended up in congestive heart failure 2 weeks after coming home from the NICU!

Sorry, no pics right now! I haven't put them on the computer yet...
